Áshús - Tea room / Café

Welcome to Áshús!

Áshús is open to museum guests every day at 10:00 to 17:00 o'clock from May 20th until September 20th. From September 21st to October 20th the café is open from 10:00 to 16:00 o'clock weekdays, closed on weekends.  The café is open to groups by request during the off-season, but it is necessary to make reservations with at least five days in advance.

In Áshús there is a cozy tea room which plays an important role in the museum experience of guests by giving them the chance to taste traditional Icelandic food and drink made in the same way Icelandic mothers and grandmothers used to make them.

The house itself was moved to Glaumbær from the farm Ás in Hegranes and is standing south of the old turfhouse. You can have traditional pastries, coffee and hot chocolate. Lunch is also available. In the house there are also exhibitions from the museum which give the tea room a warm and interesting surrounding.

If you want to taste traditional delicacies you should definitely stop by!
Please make reservations for groups with at least two days in advance by contacting byggdasafn@skagafjordur.is or by calling +354 453 6173.
