Tickets for the museum can be bought in the ticket office by the entrance of the museum area during the high season. Please book groups with at least one day in advance by sending an e-mail or calling +354 453 6173.

During the off-season you can contact us, via e-mail or phone, to visit the museum.
A special opening of the museum outside of the general opening hours: 15.000 ISK + admission.

Áshús Café

The museum café, Áshús is open to museum guests at 10:00-17:30 o'clock every day from May 20th until until August 20th. From August 21st to September 20th the café is open from 11:00 to 16:30 o'clock daily except on tuesdays, then it's closed. The café is closed during the winter months.

Visitor guidelines
  • Backpacks are not allowed in the museum. 
  • It is allowed to take photographs - without flash.
  • Permission is needed for drones.
  • Please note that unfortunately there is no wheelchair access inside the turf farm, but you can request to drive up to the turf house to view it from the outside. The café however is accessible for wheelchairs through the back door, please contact the staff so that they can open the door and install a temporary wheelchair ramp.
